New Year’s Resolution No. 2: Analyse your own benefits return across the entire spend base of the organisation (not just the spend you currently address). Use the benchmark findings from our category management leadership report, and other benchmark reports, to create your business case for investment in more people, processes, systems and training. Strengthen that case by undertaking an opportunity assessment in addition. It is not necessary to use external resources to support this, but you may find the external view is beneficial as it will provide further gravitas to your case for your internal investment approval body.
