An Introduction by Mark Webb, Managing Director at Future Purchasing
At the end of 2019, one of our long-standing clients asked us to bring together a suite of instructor led, interactive virtual learning modules that they could use to develop learning and development pathways for their 800 strong global procurement team.
The desire was to reduce the amount of travel required to attend face-to-face training, and also provide the training in bite-sized chunks that did not require 2-3 days out of the office. The output of this piece of work has proved to be well-timed for all our clients as interactive virtual delivery defines the 2020 training environment.
Do you need to rapidly strengthen existing category and supplier strategies or identify an enhanced pipeline of 2020/21 benefits? Is it time to rethink inadequate supply chain solutions or detect further supply chain risks or to simply upskill your team for the challenges ahead?
In all these cases, the Future Purchasing approach to interactive virtual learning and coaching is a great development solution that provides sustainable performance improvement and a minimum 500% Return on Investment.
Programme architecture – principles underpinning our approach
Tangible value and ROI from investment in learning: training and coaching is provided as real category/supplier/negotiation strategies are created and value identified.
Deep attitude and behaviour change: FP team can coach, transfer knowledge, develop capability and role model skills. All our procurement experts have a minimum of 15 years line and consulting experience.
Rapid and intensive skills building: skills are practiced in the context of real projects during the training and immediately afterwards with stakeholders.
Learning is embedded: participants share experiences, learn from each other and coach each other in peer learning group cohorts of 6-8.
Quality and timeliness of deliverables assured: real-time issues dealt with via flexible coaching, mentoring, and doing where required, between formal sessions.
High degree of fit to client needs: approach fully customised to client environment, team capability and budget (no travel costs or travel time).
Low total costs: no travel costs or travel time incurred.
Future Purchasing were ambitious for us, and strove to accommodate cultural and Business Unit differences to secure ongoing and sustainable results.
